PŘEDSEDA EP BUDE STÁLÝM HOSTEM NA KONFERENCÍCH PŘEDSEDŮ PARLAMENTŮ SKUPINY G8
Předseda Evropského parlamentu bude v budoucnu stálým hostem na konferencích předsedů parlamentů skupiny G8. Během tohoto víkendu se na tom v Berlíně dohodli předsedové parlamentů členských států: Německa, Francie, Velké Británie, Itálie, USA, Kanady a Ruska - států skupiny G8. Hans-Gert Pöttering se tohoto setkání zúčastnil jako host na pozvání předsedy německého Bundestagu, Norberta Lammerta.

The President of the European Parliament to participate in all future meetings of the Speakers of the G8 countries
The President of the European Parliament will in the future participate as a permanent guest in the meetings of the Speakers of the Parliaments of the G8 countries. This decision was taken by the Speakers of the G8 countries during their annual meeting this weekend in Berlin. This corresponds, in principle, to the model used for G8 Summits where the President of the European Commission and the Presidency of the Council of the European Union take part.
Hans-Gert Pöttering, President of the European Parliament, had been invited by the host of the meeting, Bundestag President Norbert Lammert, in order to give the view of the European Parliament on the theme: "Interparliamentary Co-operation in a Globalised World."
"The European Parliament is the European Union's co-legislator on important questions touching globalisation such as climate change, environmental protection and energy. At this weekend's meeting in Berlin the Speakers of the G8 countries made it clear that they saw a great interest in the European Parliament's role as the representative of the peoples of 27 European countries. The decision to admit the President of the European Parliament as a permanent guest at meetings of the Speakers of the G8 countries is therefore a very positive outcome of this meeting."
The G8 Group of countries comprises Germany, France, the UK, Italy, the USA, Canada and Russia.

Präsident des Europäischen Parlaments zukünftig ständiger Gast bei Konferenzen der Parlamentspräsidenten der G8-Staaten
Der Präsident des Europäischen Parlaments wird zukünftig ständiger Gast der Konferenzen der Parlamentspräsidenten der G8-Staaten sein. Dies haben die Parlamentspräsidenten der acht Industrienationen bei ihrem jährlichen Treffen an diesem Wochenende in Berlin beschlossen. Dies entspricht im wesentlichen dem Modell der G8-Gipfeltreffen, an denen der Präsident der Europäischen Kommission und die jeweilige Ratspräsidentschaft teilnehmen.
Hans-Gert Pöttering war von Bundestagspräsident und Gastgeber der Konferenz, Norbert Lammert, zu dem Treffen in Berlin als Gast eingeladen worden, um über die "Bedeutung und die Zusammenarbeit der Parlamente in einer globalisierten Welt" aus Sicht des Europäischen Parlaments zu sprechen.
"Das Europäische Parlament ist Mitgesetzgeber der Europäischen Union in wichtigen die Globalisierung betreffenden Fragen, wie zum Beispiel Klimawandel, Umweltschutz und Energie. Es ist bei dem Treffen der G8- Parlamentspräsidenten in Berlin an diesem Wochenende deutlich geworden, dass die Position des Europäischen Parlaments als Vertretung der Völker von 27 europäischen Staaten zu Fragen, die im Rahmen der G8 Staaten diskutiert werden, für die Parlamentspräsidenten dieser Länder von grossem Interesse ist. Der Beschluss, den Präsidenten des Europäischen Parlaments künftig als ständigen Gast zu den Konferenzen der G8-Parlamentspräsidenten einzuladen, ist daher ein sehr positives Ergebnis dieses Treffens gewesen."
Der Gruppe der G8-Staaten gehören Deutschland, Frankreich, Grossbritannien, Italien, die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika, Kanada und Russland an.
